Net Dialogue: Clearing House on Internet Governance

One of the most useful sites that you will find concerning the complex subject of Internet governance is a ‘clearing house’ site jointly produced by Harvard and Stanford’s Law Schools. They demarcate the various communities of interest and the contested attributes of Internet governance and even suggest why we need Internet governance in the first place. Historically, governance is something that is not always planned but is forced upon either national governments or other governance bodies (ie. standards organisations) by a crisis or need for efficiencies. Governance doesn't just come about; there has to be a vacuum or a political crisis for it to come about.

The Net Dialogue website aims to shed light on international Net governance and spur public discourse on this emerging body of regulation. The site is intended for the benefit of people in government, business, civil society, international organisations, the media and the public at large. With input from people who have information to share, we hope this collaborative site will serve as a model for governments to replicate in providing transparency and opportunities for public comment on initiatives (link )
