Miners Trapped in Tasmania

Last night (like every one else) I was watching the news about the trapped minders in Tasmania who had just climbed out of the hole in the ground and everyone was happy.

I grew up in Tasmania, in fact I am 5th generation Tasmanian, but for many of us, being Tasmanian means something very different to what we have been seeing on the mainstream press.

Partly what I see is the ambulance-chasing boss of the most powerful media company in Australia (Eddie McQuire) slither into the pub in Beconsfield (only a few hours after the miners had been released) and offer one of the miners 6 million dollars for exclusive right to his story. If either of the miners had any courage at all, they wouldn't take the money and they would tell Eddie McQuire to go to hell. This is the Tasmania that I know and love.
