In Chennai (Madras) they still produce antique version of the legendary Norton motorcycles. And they are really difficult to ride; at least for a novice like me (and compared to the small Chinese made motor scooters ubiquitous in India and South East Asia). I was lucky enough to spend some time with a Norton on a recent and long trip to the Sub-continent. They are big and sluggish and hard to maneuver, which makes them totally unsuited for Indian roads. Still, they are a pleasure to ride, and for those who love bikes; they are one of the most endearing features of India.
