The rise of the blogger

The rise of the blogger – Breaking – Technology – theage.com.au

I am not sure if I believe this article in the Age. Perhaps some bloggers have influence, but not all. Plus, it helps if the blogger is influential in the first place. The article is a little 'deterministic' perhaps.

Bloggers and Internet pundits are exerting a "disproportionately large influence" on society, a report by technology researchers says.

The study suggests that while "active" web users make up only a small proportion of Europe's online population, they are increasingly dominating public conversations and creating business trends

Rather interesting, too, that it was only online. I don’t think they want their hard-copy readers to know…:)

It’s a hard one to quantify. Don’t forget that some US bloggers have over a million visitors daily — figures that well established newspapers would drool over. And when Rupert Murdoch, a man not known for poor judgement, pays attention, you know that something is afoot.

Thanks ‘Expresso_expression”…I’ll keep this is mind. I don’t know of many highly influential bloggers in Australia, but as you say, it is hard to quantify.
